Jan. 19th, 2006 @ 02:30 pm It's been a long time...
Current Mood: nerdy
...a long, long time since I've updated. And, to be honest, it's pretty embarrassing to look back at the old entries. I think journal writing is just not my thing - I always end up embarrassed by whatever I've written. (But I do love reading other peoples', so I'm keeping it for the Friends list! I'm an lj parasite...sorry.) And since it has come to my attention that people I haven't seen or talked to in years are able to read this thing and show it to their cats, mothers, and/or ceramic goldfish, I thought I'd update it briefly just so the most recent entry isn't quite so out of date.

Life is great. Williamstown is (shockingly) not covered in ice and snow. I'm singing my favorite song from Rent for my Winter Study class performance. 69 days till my 21st birthday. I love zucchini muffins. :-) Those are pretty much the highlights. I'd love to expound by email to anybody who wants to say hi - and I always want to hear about other peoples' lives! (lj parasite, remember.)

Well, that's it. Happy Birthday, Dolly Parton.

Jun. 2nd, 2005 @ 09:25 am Spring is Bustin' Out All Over!
Current Mood: mischievous
Just because it's June, June, June!

Come on, I know someone else had to have once had a semi-unfortunate obsession with Carousel! A great, and, I think, highly underrated show. (The proud statement of a true theatre nerd.)

Well, I am back home. Only nine days until I leave for Tennessee, and only 13 days until this long, long 5-month wait is finally over. Thank God. I feel like I'm treading water.

Several people have done some very interesting memes lately, and if I work up the motivation, I intend to do them. But not now. PSYCH! (Is that how you actually spell that oh-so-cool, and so-like-ten-years-ago, slang? Hmm.)

And 24 days until I return to Williams, for what will, I am certain, be the best summer of my life. That's quite a nice feeling - to know that this will be the best summer ever. Of course, unless my anticipation has jinxed it, which would be very fitting for the fickle flow of fate. (Oh, alliteration. Hear me roar.)

And I'll end with the best line from the aforementioned showtune:

"All the rams that chase the ewe sheep are determined there'll be new sheep. And the ewe sheep aren't even keepin' score!"

Pretty scandalous for the 1940s. La di da. La di da.

Current Mood: late
Well, I'm off! We're stopping in Greenwich to see friends (and going into NYC on Tuesday to see The Pillowman - frickin' awesome) then continuing on to good ol' Indy. I should be home by Thursday...and then it's back to Williamstown at the end of June. These next few weeks are going to be very very looooong...

01. Reply with your name and I will write something about you.
02. I will then tell what song/movie remind me of you.
03. If I were to apply an o'clock to you, it would be...
04. I will try to name a single word that best describes you.
05. I'll tell you the most memorable moment I've had with you.
06. I will tell you what animal you remind me of.
07. I'll then tell you something that I've always wondered about you.
08. Put this in your journal

Apr. 29th, 2005 @ 12:13 pm This is frighteningly true
Current Mood: rushed

Your Birthdate: March 29

Your birthday on the 29th adds a tone of idealism to your nature.

You are imaginative and creative, but rather uncomfortable in the business world.

You are very aware and sensitive, with outstanding intuitive skills and analytical abilities.

The 29 reduces to 11, one of the master numbers which often produces much nervous tension.

This is the birthday of the dreamer rather than the doer.

You do, however, work very well with people.

Current Mood: mischievous
...is finally over.

My new abode: Bryant A31. A big(ger) Greylock room. All things considered, I think it went well.

Now all that's left to do is begin stalking the current occupant of the room...and convince him that we must become "soul brothers" in order not to disturb the room's delicate spiritual Feng Shui balance when it changes hands.

I love college.

Apr. 12th, 2005 @ 06:29 pm An Annie Life Record
Current Mood: melodramatic
Tonight I intend to go for the record - the longest time I have ever spent awake without sleep. Considering that I will be starting to write my seven-page paper at roughly 12 AM (after a full day of class and a four-hour rehearsal), this should not be too difficult to accomplish. But can I make it all night with no sleep, and survive my tutorial meeting tomorrow? Only time will tell. Tune in tomorrow morning for further updates.

In other news, this summer is going to be fantastic. That thought alone will, hopefully, sustain me through the long night ahead. If only I could make myself not care about school. Someday, someday...

Apr. 5th, 2005 @ 06:15 pm Dedicated to that Time the Phone Rang
Current Mood: listless
People keep asking me, quite naturally, how my trip to Dublin was. And I don't really know how to answer them - how can I convey how important it was to me, or how it was certainly the best week of the year, and probably one of the best weeks of my life so far? But something does keep popping into my head - it's one of my lines from "As You Like It," one that I've always thought was kind of silly and incomprehensible until now.

"O, wonderful, wonderful; and most wonderful, wonderful; and yet again, wonderful; and after that, out of all hooping!"

I now realize these words are genuis. Because nothing could better explain how it felt to be there, and how it feels whenever we're together.

And, now, my new favorite phrase: Bling-Blong! ;-)

Mar. 16th, 2005 @ 11:21 am Roberto Says It Best (especially the phrases in bold)
Current Mood: giddy
Roberto's Best Foreign Film Oscar Acceptance Speech 1999:

"Thank you! Thank you! I want to be rocked by the waves of your beauty. Come here. Thank you! Thank you! This is a moment of joy and I want to kiss everybody because you are the (inaudible) of the joy. Here you kisses the joy as it flies - leaves an eternity sunrise - the said poet. And there to have happy wet things, and with yours and not honeydew. Who saida "honeydew?" I saida "honeydew!" Ah, the happy wet things everything can do with honeydews. The cheese is warm. The party is in my closet. I am dancing in my organs and have very much gratitude for the, uh, the cleansers. What cleansers, holding hands and smiling to black holes we all canna make, no? Only if and if only the dancing continues with appeasement and more carbohydrates. Who flogged the magistrate yesterday? I just have to tell you... Wonderful, I feel like, now really to, to dive in this ocean of demonstrative and irrepressible generosity, this is too much. You take-a it all back. I no want it. It'sa not for me. (pause) I just kidding! See my smile! I a big kidder! Who's got the Milk Duds? You got the Milk Duds? I no a'got the Milk Duds. Am I taking too long? Tell me my tailor is parked and ready to shave! Let me a'speed it up like a Dutchman. If I had a noodle to spare, I'd spare you my noodle without lummoxing. . Let me tell you about a noodle to have in my cheese parties. Joy cannot tingle my nerves when all there is to have in worlds colliding with singing is my teeth! Cheese and Phyllis Diller raised me from wolves! O, wicked wicked cheese. Thank yous. Thank you all without scraping the real estate, and remembers to have attic and plentiful rock dancings in the time of aging and to have back sores on top of Old Smokey, but I love you!"

From Roberto's Best Actor Acceptance Speech 1999:

"Thank you! This is a terrible mistake because I used up all my English. I don't know! (pause) Okay, okay. I'm faking it. So I don't speak Italian. (pause) Justa kidding! I a kidder! I hop on seats and heads and dance with Jupiter and, how you say, George Jetson? Egg salad sandwiches in the aisles of liquid Tuscany are to calling me happy raindrops of smiling packages! I besiding myselves! To joy is having much animals spayed and neutering wildly! Oh, I cry with self-aware, holding hands with the onions, my devilish me. I want to thank everybodily in the worlds about how much the winds of chance can make egg salad as well! You don'ta have-a to be from the Tuscany! Look into my face! Little girls cry like myselves and I floored to the roof with plentiful dancings! But now, I musta warn you all. Something is in transit from Hell, coming for all of us! Something sinister like blackness and evil and evil. Take-a cover, pray to God, do what you can, but it'sa coming for us all!"

Pure Genius. The prophet or our age.

Mar. 13th, 2005 @ 08:50 pm La vita e bella
Current Mood: pensive
The world is so beautiful. Walking outside, across campus, at dusk, in the chilly air, listening to a great song and just soaking up how beautiful everything is...it sounds so trite and emo to say it, but it all is, really, so beautiful. I wonder if everyone else sees it to, but is just supremely cool enough to appreciate it without wandering, as I do, awestruck and bumbling, through the science quad, looking like a three year old who's just been promised a pony. I hope so.

On a related note (somewhat), I honestly think I could spend my life with Shakespeare. Reading it, talking about it, performing it. I am one of those true believers who finds it endlessly exciting, and fascinating, and malleable, and (hence the relatedness to above comment) beautiful. I'm certainly not making a career choice, by the way (that would infer that I've seriously contemplated career options, which is wildly untrue), but the observation is quite wonderful.

As is the fact that there are five days until spring break, nine until Dublin, and only two until my work is over.

Roberto was so right.
